Local and regional veterans groups issued a news release supplying information about Veterans Administration benefits and contacts.
Veterans don't have to be disabled to benefit from VA membership, they have earned the benefit (http://www1.va.gov/oifoef/docs/VBA.pdf ) through their service, the groups said.
A veteran filing paperwork for claims or adjustments to records with the VA, should do it with the assistance of a veteran service officer (http://www.cacvso.org/). The veteran service officer can serve as an advocate to ensure the correct paperwork and procedures are followed to a successful resolution. Veterans are encouraged to consult such an officer when working with the VA or Department of Defense.
