Report: Shots fired, no injuries

No one was injured Saturday after several shots were fired in the 1600 block of North West Bear Creek in Merced.

Details are sketchy about the incident, which was reported at 11:42 p.m.

Police responded to the scene after receiving phone calls about a fight near North West Bear Creek Drive and Shadowbrook Drive. As officers were responding to the location, police received three more calls from residents who heard between two and four gunshots, according to Lt. Tom Trindad.

Police arrived and contacted several people. A group of witnesses told officers they were at a party in the area when an unidentified man had a gun and fired several shots into the air. Police checked the area but were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting, Trindad said.

Police didn't locate a victim, shells, or any bullet holes.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the shooting to called Officer Emily Christensen at (209) 388-7714 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Calls are kept confidential and you can remain anonymous.
