The Modesto City Council tonight is scheduled to consider getting behind a pitch to ask Google to bring ultra high-speed Internet access here.
Communities all over the country are competing to become a test site for Google's latest venture -- a network that provides Internet service at speeds 100 times faster than most customers are used to.
The company wants to see broad support before making its selection. The council meets at 5:30 p.m. in the basement chamber of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St.
