Man accused of auto burglaries

A suspect who allegedly broke into seven vehicles in the parking lot of the Denny's restaurant on 13th Street in Merced was arrested Friday by police officers after they were called by an anonymous witness, according to the Merced Police Department.

Frank Becerra was hiding behind a trash bin in the parking lot when police arrived.

Police said when they detained Becerra he had numerous stolen items in his pockets, including a wallet, cologne and CDs. All the items where returned to their owners.

Becerra allegedly used a brick to break the windows of the vehicles in the parking lot. He was booked into custody at the Merced County Jail for possession of burglary tools and vehicle burglary.
