Homeless committee to discuss camp funding options

The city of Merced's Citizens' Advisory Committee on Homelessness said it will discuss the last two questions about homeless campgrounds: "How a campground would be funded" and "What role the city and other community organizations should play in operating and supporting a campground."

The committee also will revisit the main question: "Is a campground warranted or not?" The committee was appointed by the Merced City Council to answer eight questions about homeless camps and report back in 120 days. The committee plans to deliver its final report at the April 5 council meeting.

The meeting is open to the public and is intended to serve as a community forum for public comment. The committee will meet at 6 p.m., today in the Sam Pipes Room on the first floor of the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St.
