City to hold high-speed public workshop Tuesday at Merced Senior Center

A public workshop to discuss the downtown Merced high-speed rail station and the station planning area will be at 5:30 p.m. today at the Merced Senior and Community Center, 755 W. 15th St.

There will be an open house at 4 and 6 p.m.

The workshop will feature presentations by the California High-Speed Rail Station Planning Team from AECOM, Inc. AECOM is a consultant hired by the California High-Speed Rail Authority to design station plans for the Merced area.

The workshop is being hosted by the city of Merced, with support from the Greater Merced High-Speed Rail Committee, Inc. The committee was created to take a unified approach to the high-speed rail through Merced County, the city said in a news release.

Members include Merced County, the cities of Merced and Atwater, UC Merced, Merced College, local businesses and industries and others.
