On Deck for July 17

The Madera 14U travel ball team is holding tryouts July 20, 22 and 23. Private tryouts can also be arranged. To register for the tryout or get more information call Louie at 652-7226. Mayhem Fastpitch will be holding tryouts for its 10, 12 and 14U teams on July 20 and 22 at the Northgate Softball Complex in Manteca. Tryouts will begin at 5:30 p.m. For more information call 915-0439.

The Atwater Blaze 12u softball team will be conducting an open tryout for our fall competitive team on July 25th at 11AM. The tryout will be at Atwater High School. Golf

The Merced High Quarterback Club will host its third annual Golf Classic at Stevinson Ranch on Friday, July 30. The tournament will be a four-man scramble, and the cost is $125 per person. The Buhach Colony football team will host its inaugural Thunder Football Golf Tournament on July 30 at Rancho Del Rey Golf Course.

The format is a 4-player scramble with best ball and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $300 per team. Prizes will be given out to the winners and there will be games on every hole. Prizes will also be raffled off. For more information call Kevin Swartwood at 769-9845.

Thomas Produce at 3900 Sultana Drive in Atwater from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays between 7 a.m.-noon.

Football

Registration for the City of Merced’s 2010 Youth NFL Flag Football Program will run from July 19-Aug. 27. The league is open to boys and girls and split in three age divisions from the third to eighth grade. You can signup at the City of Merced Parks and Community Services Office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The cost is $60 per child and the season runs from September to mid November. Volleyball

Rage Volleyball will host a Grass Tournament on Saturday, July 24 at Mavis Stouffer Park in Ripon. The tournament will have three divisions: four-person coed ($100 per team), doubles ($50) and four-person Pee-Wee ($80) and is open to all skill levels. Registration is open until July 17. Basketball

Los Banos High School will host a basketball camp on Aug. 2-4 at Los Banos High School. The cost is $45 before July 19 and $55 after. The fee includes nine hours of instruction from LB boys and girls basketball coaches Corey Edmiston and Danny Crosby and the varsity boys and girls teams, a jump rope, basketball and camp t-shirt. The camp will focus on offensive and defensive footwork, ballhandling, shooting, passing, quickness training and team play. The California Youth Basketball League is registering for its summer 2010 season. Games begin July 24 and run through Sept. 18. The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-18 with individual and team registration available. For more information call (916) 391-3900.

Dance

The Sacramento Kings dance team will have auditions for the 2010-11 season on July 18 at the California State Fair. The auditions are open to the public and will be held on the Cal Expo main stage. Participants must be 18 and over as of Nov. 1 2010. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and auditions will begin at 5 p.m. For more information visit www.kings.com.
