Around Town: Youth flag football

Registrations will be accepted for the city's 2010 Youth NFL Flag Football Program until Aug. 27.

The season runs from September to mid-November. There are three divisions: pee wee, third to fourth grades; junior varsity, fifth to sixth grades; and varsity, seventh to eighth grades. Cost is $60 per child.

Mariposa Evenings

The Mariposa County Arts Council, along with many fine sponsors, will continue the 2010 season of Cousin Jack's Mariposa Evenings today and Saturday at the Mariposa County Arts Park on Highway 140 between Fourth and Fifth streets.

There will be free parking on Fifth Street and handicap access. Bring a chair or blanket for seating. Starts at 7 p.m. and tips are appreciated.

Custom Auto Show

The second annual Merced Custom Auto Show will be at Lake Yosemite from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

There will be hot rods, muscle cars, VWs, classics, 4X4s and low-lows. Admission is $10 for adults and children 10 and under are free with paying adult. Vehicle registration is $30 in advance or $40 day of the show.

There will be live music, deejays and great food. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Merced Mall will host a Back To School Fashion Show at 1 p.m. Saturday in center court.
