Merced County sheriff's deputies say a 32-year-old Ceres woman was busted Friday after allegedly trying to enter the Merced County Court-
house with a small amount of methamphetamine.
The woman, Michelle Adams, tried entering the courthouse's front entrance just after noon when a security attendant saw something that resembled a knife in Adam's purse as it passed through an X-ray machine.
A sheriff's deputy asked Adams to show him the knife in her purse, at which time she dumped out her purse and its contents, saying she didn't have a knife. As the deputy searched Adam's purse, he didn't find a knife, but instead found a clear plastic baggie containing a straw and two small bags of what appeared to be methamphetamine.
The deputy questioned Adams about the baggie, and she confessed that it was methamphetamine and it belonged to her.
Adams was arrested and booked on suspicion of possessing of methamphetamine. She was released after posting $10,000 bail.
