Denham to serve on House Veterans Affairs Committee

MODESTO – Congressman-Elect Jeff Denham today released the following statement about his appointment to the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, his third committee assignment in two days:

“As a veteran, I understand the unique challenges our brave men and women face. It is the duty of Congress to fulfill its commitment to our veterans and ensure they have the care promised,” Denham said.

“The men and women in our Armed Forces make daily sacrifices. With the addition of Veterans’ Affairs, I will be able to address the needs of those that have served our great nation,” Denham concluded.

Denham will serve on the House Committee on Natural Resources, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs once the 112th Congress is sworn into office in January.

The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs has jurisdiction over all U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs programs and facilities. More information can be found at: http://veterans.house.gov/

More information on Denham’s other committee assignments can be found here -http://resourcescommittee.house.gov/ and here - http://transportation.house.gov/

Denham was elected to serve the 19th congressional district of California, replacing retiring Congressman George Radanovich. Denham will be sworn into office on Jan. 5th, 2011.
