Crop report for week of Jan. 9

A report on crop conditions for Merced County for the week ending Jan. 9 was released by the Merced County agricultural commissioner's office.

Winter wheat planting is 100 percent complete, and 100 percent of the crop has emerged.

Almond pruning and orchard removal continues. Hulling and shelling of stockpiled almonds continue.

The radicchio harvest continues. Sweet potato hot bed and field fumigations continue. Broccoli fields are beginning to emerge.

Supplemental livestock feeding of hay and nutrients continues.

The rangelands are turning green after recent rain, and cattle are being moved onto rangelands for winter foraging.

Sheeping off of alfalfa fields continues.
