Merced's Red Sky Comics promises plenty of action this Saturday -- it's Free Comic Book Day and the comic shop in Downtown Merced is also hosting a Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 video game tournament.
Thousands of comic shops around the country participate in Free Comic Book Day, which started in 2002. At Red Sky, owner Michael Smid says the store has a number of free comic books to pass out and will offer sales throughout the store while costumed characters wander around.
Registration for the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament requires a $5 entry fee, and sign-ups will start being taken at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament begins at 2.
Red Sky is located at 617 W. Main St. and is open from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call (209) 726-0667.
