Local tracks bring power

There was noise and thunder at the first Madera Speedway Summertime Horsepower National presented by Lucas Oil on Saturday. Rich Lindgren won the Super Modifieds division, holding off veteran Scott Winters topping the 23-car field. Lindgreen blocked Winters, who hit the wall down the final stretch but still managed to finish second. Jim Mardis, Austin Barnes and Mike Regalman rounded out the top five.

Other main event winners included Jim Birges in the Super Modifieds, Chad Nichols in the BCRA midgets, Lloyd Bamping in the Two-Track Hobbies, and Mitch Pasquale in the Two-Track 4-Bangers.

Merced Speedway

Dan Gonderman won the All-Star Winged Sprint Cars race at Merced Speedway on Sunday. Chris Shannon took the DIRTcar West Modified checkered flag, Tim Prothro won the Valley Sportsman Stock Car race and Shane Hausmann was the Hobby Stock Car winner.
