Livingston runs away; Cacal's 2 TD runs carry Wolves past Pacheco

LOS BANOS -- For a minute, it looked as if Pacheco might hang with Livingston -- but only for a minute.

Livingston ran away with the 49-12 victory, dealing the knockout blow early with a 28-point first quarter.

"Not knowing a whole lot about them or what to expect, this is a trap game for a lot of teams that think they're going to play better than they are," Livingston coach Chris Lacey said about the first-year Pacheco program. "It's a different environment, their home field, and I'm excited to get out of here with a 'W.' "

Livingston's different looks on kickoffs put Pacheco on its heels early when, following an Adrian Muniz touchdown that made it 14-6, Livingston's Dylan Garcia jumped on an onside kick after blasting the only Pacheco player in the area off his feet.

"That's not a trick play for us. We treat that as an offensive play," Lacey said. "Depending on how they're lining up, it's a sideline call. They were out of position a couple of times."

Chris Cacal escaped for a 48-yard touchdown a play later, and Pacheco watched the score jump from 7-6 to 21-6 in a matter of seconds.

"It was ET (end-over-tackle), and I just overran it and saw a cutback lane," Cacal said about his second touchdown of the day. "We've got two solid running backs, Adrian Muniz and Brian Perez, that can run for 200 every game if they wanted to."

Muniz and Perez didn't see a whole lot of action -- the Wolves spread 298 rushing yards among 12 ball carriers. Cacal led the pack with 65 yards on 7 carries.

Pacheco quarterback Jacob Parks finished with 107 yards, most of it on a 46-yard break in the first quarter and a 50-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth.

"We've got nothing to lose," Pacheco coach David Snapp said about a more aggressive offense. "We're going to let it all hang out. Sometimes it might kill us, and sometimes good things will happen."
