A fieldworker in Snelling is being treated for a broken leg and head injuries after he drove his quad into a metal pole, said John Patterson, spokesman for the Merced-area California Highway Patrol.
The man was riding the quad Monday afternoon at a vineyard on East Keyes Road near Fields Road when he struck the pole. He was conscious and alert when emergency workers arrived, Patterson said.
He is being treated for his injuries at Doctors Medical Center of Modesto.
