A 63-year-old Los Banos man died just after 6 p.m. Friday on Highway 152 near Chowchilla after his motorcycle crashed.
The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification to his family, was driving west on Highway 152 when Escalon resident David Lee Standridge, 57, turned left onto the highway from Road 9, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As he made the turn, Standridge reported seeing a Harley Davidson motorcycle pull around approaching traffic at a high rate of speed, according to the CHP.
Standridge continued to accelerate, but was concerned about how fast the motorcycle was approaching, according to the CHP. He moved to the right to allow the motorcyclist to pass, but the Los Banos man was changing lanes and didn't see the Jeep, striking the left rear corner of it.
The Jeep veered onto the shoulder of Highway 152, according to the CHP. The motorcycle flipped over and its rider was ejected, coming to rest in a left-turn lane of Highway 152, while his bike landed in the grassy median.
Passing drivers stopped to provide medical assistance until emergency personnel arrived, but the motorcyclist died from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep didn't suffer any injuries, and no arrests were made.
