Local Roundup: Le Grand back in title game

Sun-Star staff reports

LE GRAND — Zach Moreno hauled in nine catches for 185 yards and three touchdowns as Le Grand earned its way back in the section title game with a 48-6 win over Rio Vista on Friday night at Le Grand High.

The Bulldogs will get a rematch in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 5 title game against Highlands (10-2) on Saturday at the Grape Bowl in Lodi.

Quarterback Alex Bucio completed 13 of 21 passes for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Moreno scored on touchdown passes of 25, 16 and 74 yards.

Daniel Guizar added 181 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

“We’re back at it, but it feels like unfinished business,” said Le Grand coach Rick Martinez, whose team won their 20th straight game to improve to 11-0. “We have to take care of business and go after Highlands.”

The Bulldogs also got 105 rushing yards from Dustin Slate on just two carries, including a 96-yard touchdown run.

Selma 43, Dos Palos 27

SELMA -- The Broncos (5-6) saw their season come to an end in the first round of the Central Section Division 4 Playoffs. Dos Palos running back Kaylan Hill was held to 80 yards on 23 carries.
