Police nab parolee after robbery report

Sun-Star staff

A 27-year-old parolee was arrested Saturday on suspicion of pulling a knife on two people in the 1700 block of West North Bear Creek Drive.

Police received a call from one of the victims shortly before 9:30 p.m., saying a possible robbery was in progress. After arriving at the scene, police arrested Ramon Oseguerra after determining he matched the suspect's description, according to Sgt. Bobby Chapman.

The victims, a man and a woman, told officers they were walking to a fast-food restaurant near North Highway 59 when they were approached from behind. Oseguerra pulled out a knife and demanded money, according to police.

According to the victims, Oseguerra began opening and closing his knife while saying, "Work with me." He then left without taking anything.

Oseguerra was booked into the Merced County jail on suspicion of attempted robbery and a misdemeanor arrest warrant.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Tips can be sent via anonymous text messages by dialing "TIP411" (847411) and including the word "ComVIP" as the keyword in the text message.
