Man riding his bike at night hit by car, injured

A bicyclist was hit by a car and hurt Tuesday night, Merced police said.

Alecio Felix, 31, was riding his bike on Alpine Street just east of G Street when he was hit by a 2005 maroon Toyota. The driver told police she didn't see Felix, who was in the middle of the road, because he was wearing dark clothing and didn't have any lights on his bicycle.

Felix suffered injuries to his face, chest and arms, and he was flown by helicopter to a Modesto hospital for treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
