Merced police served search warrants at two Merced homes Friday, resulting in two arrests on suspicion of gang-related crimes.
Officers served a warrant in the 3200 block of Phoenix Way, and a second warrant in the 1300 block of West Second Street. During the searches, officers found gang-related clothing and a .45-caliber pistol. They arrested Gilbert Arroyo Lopez of Merced on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, providing a firearm to a minor, violating his parole and gang conspiracy charges. They also arrested Imelda Pena Sanchez, 19, of Merced, on suspicion of gang conspiracy for concealing a firearm and being a person under 21 in possession of a firearm.
