Chowchilla man electrocuted after Madera County crash

A Chowchilla man died in Madera County Wednesday night after he walked into a downed power line following a car crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man, identified by the Madera County Sheriff's Department as Ryan Reedy, 28, was driving south on Avenue 16 when he crashed into a power pole just north of Road 21 1/2, CHP Sgt. John Johnson said. The crash brought down some of the live power lines.

Reedy got out of his car and walked into one of the lines, killing him instantly, Johnson said. Crews from Pacific Gas & Electric Co. were called to deactivate the power lines.
