Caltrans will open Highway 165 between the junctions of Highways 140 and 152 to one-way controlled traffic on Feb. 6 at midnight, earlier than expected. The route was closed Oct. 3, 2011, and was scheduled to reopen on Feb. 12.
Crews are working to replace the San Joaquin River Bridge, widen two other bridges, pave the roadway with asphalt overlay and modify the Santa Fe Grade Road and Wolfsen Road intersections on the 15-mile stretch of highway.
The construction is part of the $25.8 million Wolfsen Rehabilitation project, which includes $8 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds and is expected to be complete in the spring. The contractor for the project is Teichert. There are 807 ongoing construction contracts statewide at Caltrans, valued at more than $10.3 billion.
