Daniel Murillo, a junior high student at Cesar E. Chavez Middle School in Planada, was recognized at his school assembly Feb. 1 for being one of 10 statewide winners of the Celebrate Success Art Contest sponsored by the Association of School Administrators (ACSA) Students Services, Special Education Council and Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP.
The contest that is open to all K-12 public education students, and there were more 400 entries. Daniel received a $250 bond for his accomplishment.
Daniels art piece, along with the other nine winners, was displayed at the Every Child Counts...New Challenges, New Opportunities Symposium held in January in Monterey. The drawings were made available to all those who attended the symposium. In addition, they will be displayed at the Sacramento ACSA office.
