Livingston shooting Sunday morning leaves one man dead

LIVINGSTON -- An 18-year-old man is dead and another person was injured after a shooting reported early Sunday morning, police said.

The shooters remain at large and the coroner's office hasn't released the victim's name, pending notification of family or next-of-kin.

Officers responded to a shots fired call around 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Swan Street and found the victims in a shed, according to Sgt. Ray Fong with the Livingston Police Department.

The 18-year-old man received a single gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to a Modesto hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Fong said.

The other person, whose identity and age haven't been released, received a minor wound.

The death is the first homicide for the city in nearly three years -- the last incident was in 2009. The death is the fourth homicide in Merced County reported this year, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie, spokesperson for the coroner.
