Merced soprano Samuelson to perform in Sonora Feb. 19

Soprano Jenni Samuelson will present “An Afternoon of Song with Jenni” on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora.

The program will include songs from musical theater, classical concert halls, contemporary standards, several comedic cabaret pieces and a special set of praise and worship songs.

Samuelson performed a similar program two weeks ago at UC Merced in Lakireddy Auditorium. She will be joined by pianist Dennis Brown. Samuelson, a Merced native, is a lecturer with UC Merced’s Global Arts Studies Program. The Sonora performance will include several selections by Rodgers and Hart as well as selections from George Gershwin’s folk opera “Porgy and Bess” and duets from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story.” Stephen Mouillesseaux, tenor, will join Samuelson on the duets, as well as comedic cabaret pieces.

Jessical Spencer, 10, will perform a special duet from Samuelson’s new CD, “Once Upon a Lullaby.”

Tickets are $10 general admission. For more information, call (209) 532-7179.
