Nathan Sweem: Active-duty military support Ron Paul

Ron Paul has received more campaign contributions from active-duty military than all of the other Republican presidential candidates combined. This shouldn't be a surprise, since he has the greatest understanding of our situation overseas and the proper role of soldiers in our national defense. He also wants to shut down our numerous bases overseas. He is the only candidate who is not eager to launch a pre-emptive war with Iran. He understands that soldiers are not political pawns, and that war should only be undertaken in defense as a last resort.

Ron Paul is a veteran, and he isn't eager to send more of our troops into harm's way. After fighting in Iraq, many soldiers and veterans understand that pre- emptive invasions based on unconfirmed intelligence has little to do with the defense of this nation.

Ron Paul has the wisdom to take this lesson to heart as well. He stands out as the only real choice in the coming election. Let's not waste this opportunity to make a difference.
