Around Town: Planning Commission meets

Crab feed to aid derby

The Rollin' Roulettes will hold a crab feed fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Merced Women's Clubhouse, 707 W. 22nd St. Tickets are $40 and include all-you-can-eat crab and dancing. Reception for artists

Arbor Gallery will hold an artists reception at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 16. Works by a number of artists will be on exhibit, including those by James Ver Doorn, Joan Rafel, Sharon Gossett, Lori Nelson, Elizabeth Boretz, Darlene Bennett, Pope Lawrence and Susan Regert. The exhibit will run through April 20. The gallery is at 645 W. Main St. Call (209) 384-8338.

Dinner to benefit vets

ATWATER -- The Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold an enchilada dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at the VFW hall, 1390 Broadway. Tickets are $8. The meal is two chicken or beef enchiladas, rice and beans. All proceeds will go to help veterans in the area.

Enchilada dinner

HORNITOS -- The Hornitos Patrons Club will hold its 63rd annual enchilada dinner from 3:30 to 8 p.m. on March 3 at the Stag Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. The meal is two enchiladas or chicken pie, beans, salsa, garlic bread, coleslaw, sherbet, coffee and punch. Entertainment will be by Rancho Valencia Sol Del Valle. There will be local craft vendors. Brown Bag program

Merced County Food Bank's Brown Bag program provides food to seniors who have a monthly income of $300 to $800. You can adopt a senior for $30 a year and he or she will receive two bags of groceries a month. Money for this program has been cut by the governor and donations are needed to keep it going.
