At the 2012 Merced County Fair, everybody can get in for $5 -- a 50 percent discount on the 2011 general admission. Kids 5 years and younger will continue to get in free. Kids' Day will still be offered on June 14, when all children 12 and younger get in free.
Plans are in full swing for the 121st Merced County Fair, June 13-17. "Cows Just Wanna Have Fun!" is the theme.
It's been 20 years since general admission at the Merced County Fair was $5.
In addition to the reduced general admission, the fair also will offer a new five-general-admission ticket pack valued at $25 for $16 -- a 36 percent savings. The tickets can be used in any combination during the fair.
Outdoor Theatre entertainment will continue to be included in the general admission ticket price. The Afters, a group of talented musicians and songwriters with a hit song that continues to ride high on the Christian music charts, will perform Opening Day, June 13.
There will be a separate admission charge for grandstand entertainment.
Also new this year will be preferred parking. These new parking permits will offer exclusive parking privileges in the fairgrounds' administration and livestock parking lots.
