Michael Gerson's articles say Obama declares war on religion and the poor with its Planned Parenthood leaf, but he omits the true constitutionality of these assertions.

These protections were specifically described to prevent a European-like nation from being duplicated on this side of the Atlantic. There is no national religion or church because these men were witnesses to the darkest chapters in man's inhumanity to man, penned with the blood of innocents through theocratic edicts.
The Founders wrote these laws specifically giving all individuals a right to pursue happiness without being stymied by anyone's dogmatic superstitions. Acceptance of doctrinal fiats are personal choices and should not to be a burden to those of differing ideologies.
Commercial and nonprofit entities hire their work forces because they need so many bodies to be effective; these labor-associates are not necessarily of the same teachings so their leanings also must be honored. I doubt if church-owned units insist in their job applications and job descriptions to require workers to pray at their altar. Optimal health care coverage is for all signees, not just those in the same philosophical fold. It is only the laity that is bound by the churches' social issues; all others are protected by our documented laws of the land.
