Kris Ruth: Girl Scouts launch green effort

Girl Scouts is 100 years old this year and celebrating going green forever.

As part of this celebration, Girl Scout Tioga Service Unit has started a Beauty & Personal Product brigade with Terracycle. We are collecting the following items: lipstick cases, mascara tubes, eye shadow cases, shampoo bottles, conditioner bottles, bronzer cases, foundation packaging, body wash containers, soap tubes, soap dispensers, lotion dispensers, shaving foam tubes, powder cases, lotion bottles, chapstick tubes, lotion tubes, face soap dispensers, face soap tubes, face lotion bottles, face lotion jars, eyeliner cases, eyeliner pencils, eyeshadow tubes, concealer tubes, concealer sticks, lipliner pencils, hand lotion tubes, hair gel tubes and hair paste jars.

We cannot accept hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover bottles.

Items can be given to any girl scout. We also will have a drop-off site on March 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way.
