Merced bomb squad responds to mannequin's head at Atwater school

The Merced Police Department's bomb squad used its robot to destroy a suspicious mannequin's head found near Bellevue Elementary School in Atwater, according to Atwater Police Chief Frank Pietro.

The school principal reportedly found the head beneath a vehicle parked near the school's gym. Officers were dispatched to the school at 3:15 p.m. The mannequin head was decorated in earrings and other accessories, resting on a wooden platform, and had a piece of tape around the mouth with a note that read "pull off my tape and see what happens."

The water cannon caused the head to bounce down the basketball court. It was not a bomb.
