Woman killed in Highway 140 crash identified

A 51-year-old Soquel woman who was killed in a crash Monday afternoon on Highway 140 has been identified as Patricia Garske, according to the Merced County Coroner's Office.

Garske was driving a motor home carrying four people, which collided with a pickup on Highway 140 just east of Merced.

California Highway Patrol said a black Dodge Dakota was westbound on the highway when it drifted to the right and off the road.

The driver of the pickup, 51-year-old Ninfa Contreras-Garcia of Planada, attempted to get back onto the road but overcorrected and slammed into the motor home head-on.

Heather McAllister, 28, of Fremont also was in the motor home and suffered major injuries. She was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Xavier Hilton, 16, of Santa Cruz was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.

The third passenger, 16-year-old April Harlamoff of Soquel, was taken to Memorial with minor injuries. All three of the injured motor home passengers were taken to the hospitals by helicopter, CHP said,

Contreras-Garcia suffered minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center.
