MERCED -- A shooting and home invasion were reported about an hour apart early Sunday in the 100 block of E. 12th Street, Merced police reported.
No suspects have been arrested in either case, and it's unknown whether the crimes are related, according to Lt. Bimley West.
The home invasion was reported at 12:18 a.m. after the attackers, described as two Latino males, knocked on the door of a residence. After ransacking the home, the men fled on foot. It's unknown whether they took any items. Riggs paramedics responded to the scene and treated the victims for injuries. The robbers were described as about 6 feet tall. One had a large build; the other a thin build.
No additional details about the robbers were available.
The shooting was reported at 1:38 a.m. Officers responded to a call of shots fired and found the victim, a 24-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was flown to a Modesto hospital.
