Merced's Holiday Inn Express robbed by two men

Sun-Star staff

MERCED -- No one was hurt in a robbery reported around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express, Merced police said.

The clerks reported that two men walked into the 151 S. Parsons Ave. hotel and jumped over the counter, demanding money. One of the robbers held his hand under his shirt, making it appear he had a gun pointed at the clerks, according to reports.

The workers handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robbers fled eastbound on foot, police say.

One robber was described as a white man in his early 20s, wearing a gray sweatshirt. The one who appeared to holding the gun was described as a black man wearing a burgundy sweatshirt.

Police are asking anyone with information to call (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725.
