International Day of Prayer is Friday There will be a prayer vigil from noon to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way. People of all faiths are invited.

Challenged Family Center car show The Challenged Family Resource Center will host its second annual car show from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Merced Courthouse Park.

Mariposa Blazin' Hog BBQ competition MARIPOSA -- The sixth annual Blazin' Hog BBQ Competition will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. There will be Zydeco bands, including the Bluesbox Bayou Band, and Mark St. Mary and His Louisiana Band. All proceeds will benefit the John C. Fremont Hospital. Merced County Mental Health Board meeting LOS BANOS -- The Merced County Mental Health Board will meet at 2 p.m. on Oct. 2 at 40 G St., Suites A-E.

Jazz Under the Stars ATWATER -- Atwater-Merced Alumnae Chapter presents Jazz Under The Stars from 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 6, at 877 W. Fruitland Ave. Tickets are $25 each, or sponsor a VIP table for $1,000 and get personal service, fine dining, your name on table, sponsor recognition and eight tickets. Merced Saturday Aglow Lighthouse Merced Saturday Aglow Lighthouse will meet at 11 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Calvary Temple Pentecostal, 2740 N. Highway 59. The speakers will be The Yosemite Gateway Area Team: Marji Peterson, Irva Keith, Linda Bombard and Fran Schnieder.

Track and field camp The city of Merced Office of Recreation and the Central Valley Sports Academy will hold a free Track and Field Sports Camp from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fahrens Park at R and Buena Vista streets. Support group helps with mental health Merced County National Alliance on Mental Illness holds bi-weekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information on NAMI, call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
