LOS BANOS -- Beer and sausage, or "bier und bratwurst" as the Germans say, is the focus of a Catholic school fundraiser later this month.
Our Lady of Fatima Parent Club plans Oktoberfest on the campus, 1625 Center Ave., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
Organizers plan more than 150 types of beer and sausage, cheese, wine and edibles.
Kirk Carter, a beer distributor, said there will be domestic, craft, seasonal, limited edition and -- for the adventurous -- obscure draughts.
The three-hour event of food and drink continues to be a popular attraction with about 900 expected, according to parent club treasurer Kym McAdam.
Some of the food samples come with admission, McAdam said, but OLF classes will also sell food in booths. While the lagers, pilsners and other drinks are the star of the show, she said, the event is also a great social event.
The money made goes toward operating expenses and is a way to keep tuition costs down.
