Robbery reported at Atwater market

No one was hurt during an early Monday morning robbery at the Circle K market in Atwater, police reported.

The incident was reported at 2:15 a.m. after the robber entered the 1021 Shaffer Road business, holding a green bandana over his hand, as if he were holding a gun, according to Lt. San Joseph.

The robber demanded the clerk to open the safe, threatening to "blow his head off," Joseph said.

The clerk said he wasn't able to open the safe, and the robber threatened him again. The clerk did hand over a small amount of cash from a register and the robber fled.

The robber's described as a Latino man in his early 20s, about 5-feet-8-inches tall, with a black bandana covering his face, and wearing a black hat.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Adolfo Lomeli at (209) 357-6387 or the department's automated tipline at (209) 357-6390. Tips are kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
