Around Town: Free round of golf

The Merced Golf and Country Club is offering a free round of golf through Oct. 11 to honor local active duty military, police, firefighters and paramedics. To schedule a tee time and learn about our dress code, call (209) 722-3357.

Women's Club lunch

The Merced Women's Club will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 707 W. 22nd St. The speaker will be Amie Marchini. For more information or to make a reservation, call (209) 384-5880.

Program's focus on UC

The UFC Luncheon Program will begin at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at UC Merced in the California Room. This year will spotlight campus Chancellor Dorothy Leland; the Green Tour will follow the luncheon. Diamond jubilee

Soroptimists International of Merced will celebrate its 75th anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Merced Golf and Country Club, 6333 N. Golf Road. Tickets are $40; cocktail attire is appropriate. Call (209) 769-3336.

'Moroccan Mystique'

Merced County Legal Professionals will hold a fundraiser, "Moroccan Mystique," at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Gateway Gardens, 560 W. 18th St. There will be a no-host bar, dinner, hookah lounge, henna tattoos, dessert, silent auction and raffle. Tickets are $20. Call (209) 383-0132.

Open house planned

SAN FRANCISCO -- Native Daughters of the Golden West will hold its open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Julia Morgan-designed home in San Francisco. Tour the home or stay at the home for the event. Tickets are $35 per member. Call (209) 722-0349.

Honor area veterans

LIVINGSTON -- The Ladies Auxiliary and VFW will be assisting in a special project to honor local veterans. Members are collecting photos and service information on veterans in Livingston, Delhi, Cressey, Ballico and surrounding areas. The information will be made into a slide show to be shown at city events. If you would like to honor a veteran, call (209) 394-2059.
