Bedsheet burglary seen at Merced nursing home

MERCED -- The Country Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Merced was the target of a burglary early Sunday, according to Merced police.

The burglary was reported at 8:45 a.m., and no arrests have been made.

Two burglars left with bedsheets and curtains after cutting the lock on an outdoor storage container, said Lt. Bimley West.

A Country Villa employee went outside to empty the trash and noticed a white man and woman in their 40s, holding the items from the storage unit.

When the employee asked what they were doing, the pair responded by saying they would return the items. The couple then left the scene, heading westbound on foot.

Employees are conducting inventory to determine the cost of the stolen property, West said.
