Two more drug search warrants served

October 3, 2012

Two more search warrants have been served early this morning, stemming from Tuesday evening’s pot bust on the 500 block of South Buhach Road in Merced.

Two SWAT teams, from the Merced County Sheriff’s office and the Merced Police Department, served search warrants in Merced and North Atwater. Details are pending in the investigation, but police say several more suspects have been taken into custody. They believe the three pot-growing operations may be tied to a major drug trafficking organization.

Last night, agents seized 200 marijuana plants, 300 pounds of dried marijuana along with packaging material and scales from South Buhach Road.

The search warrants are part of “Operation Mercury,” which began in July, and aims at cracking down on large-scale marijuana growing operations.
