Atwater 1977 reunion

ATWATER — Atwater High School's Class of 1977 will host its reunion starting at the football game on Friday, and later at Tary Boscolio's Pizzeria. A dinner-dance will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday at the Vista Ranch and Cellars on Highway 140. This is open to all Atwater graduates. Go to or call (213) 996-4200.

Race for Cure dinner

ATWATER — The Ladies Auxiliary VFW 9946 will host a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at 1390 Broadway Ave. Tickets are $8 in advance sale and $10 at the door. For takeout, add 50 cents. Proceeds to benefit Cancer Aid and Research Fund.

Johnny Cash Tribute

The Art Kamangar Center will present a Johnny Cash Tribute Concert featuring James Garner at 8 p.m. Friday at the Merced Theatre, 307 W. Main St. Tickets are $20. Call (209) 381-0500.

Drug advisory board

The Merced County Advisory Board on Alcohol and Other Drug Problems will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1137 B St.

Sierra Club

The Sierra Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Merced United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way. The speaker will be Adam Blauert, who writes an outdoor column for the Sun-Star. He will discuss his explorations of recently opened recreation areas and trails. Call (209) 723-4747.

Swim clinic

The Mutual of Omaha Breakout Swim Clinic will be hosted by Merced Skimmers from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Merced College, 3600 M St. Check-in time is 2:30 p.m. You must register by Friday. This clinic is designed to break bad habits, build new skills, uncover hidden talent and teach championship techniques on all four strokes.
