Authorities think body in burned home is owner

MARIPOSA -- The body of a person found after firefighters responded to a house fire east of Mariposa on Sunday is believed to be homeowner Egon Ruttimann, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office.

Officials said the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation, and a positive identification of the body has yet to be made.

The fire was reported Sunday afternoon at Ruttimann's Hillside Drive home.

After firefighters brought the blaze under control, the body was found inside the home, sheriff's officials said.
