It was destitution at its worst. I was there!
I remember the sweat shops of the Great Depression. I remember my father was jobless and WPA was our only source of sustenance. I remember our electricity was cut off for nonpay. I remember the only money in our home for 30 days was 3 cents on the kitchen canister. I remember the foreclosure of our home. I remember stuffing newspaper in my shoes to cover gaping holes. I remember the excruciating stress on our entire family.
This was the way it was in the 1930s. Now the tea party has paved the way for a repeat of this disaster, God forbid. Demise of collective bargaining is their ultimate goal. It's evident that private sector unions are now in the cross-hairs of these union busters. The passage of Prop. 32 is tailored to reduce wages and increase corporate profits. Remember, if you can't bargain collectively you are at the mercy of corporate greed.
