Woman arrested near Delhi after stolen car crashes

TURLOCK -- Turlock police arrested a 33-year-old woman who allegedly ran away from a car accident involving a stolen car.

According to authorities, officers spotted a stolen vehicle near South First Avenue and Gold Road at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday. When they tried to stop the car, the driver sped off.

Police chased the car, which crashed into vehicles parked on Oak Street, then rolled over. The occupants got out and ran away. Officers searched the area with help from Merced County Sheriff’s deputies and a K9.

About 30 minutes into the search, they found Yesenia Cunyo walking on Bloss Avenue. She had injuries consistent with having been in a crash, police said.

She was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run and evading police.
