Merced PD Detective Joe Deliman wears a pin with a picture of the Riley Brothers as he and others walk down Meadows Avenue during the Riley Brothers Victims’ Visual Walk on Saturday in Merced.
The fourth annual Riley Brothers Victims’ Visual Walk took place at noon on Saturday (10-13-12) in Merced. The walk honored the memory of Marlis Riley, 27, and Michael Riley, 29, who were killed less than a year apart -- in October 2008 and September 2009, respectively.
The walk was organized by their mother, Marylene Riley. It started in the FoodMaxx parking lot at 1300 W. Olive Ave. and continued along Meadows Avenue, onto Loughborough Drive and Denver Avenue. A prayer was said and Amazing Grace was sung at the sites where the brothers were killed.
Stacy Winzer, the mother of Duane Caradine who was murdered August 12, 2007, was also present, and the walk stopped at the apartment complex on Denver Avenue where he was slain. Also on the walk was Pearl Lomeli, the mother of Andrew Flores who was killed last spring just before he was going to graduate from Merced High.
Merced Police Department Detective Joe Deliman stressed that these cases are solvable with help and information from the community. Anyone with information can call 385-6992.
