It'll get warmer this week, but not into 90s

Well, the heat is returning, but apparently not as much as forecasters thought.

The National Weather Service predicts highs around the Northern San Joaquin Valley getting into the upper 80s by Thursday, but forecasters have backed off the predictions of 90 degrees they made last week.

Temperatures were in the mid-80s Monday, and are expected to rise a few degrees later in the week and then drop back a bit by the weekend. Conditions throughout the week are expected to be clear, with some wind through Wednesday.

In the foothills, there's a slight chance of rain early this week in the northern areas, with highs a few degrees cooler than in the valley.
