Keith Law: Merced College needs Gary Eno

I have taught at Merced College for over 20 years. I am writing to ask voters in Area Three (North Merced to Snelling) to vote for Gary Eno for trustee of Merced College.

After interviewing all three candidates for this position, the Representative Council of the Merced College Faculty Association, representing all full-time faculty members, endorsed Gary Eno.

Recent news concerning Merced College has not all been good. Due largely to an ineffective administration, we are currently on "warning" status with our accrediting agency.

A few years ago, the district restructured and increased administration, costing over $500,000. Since this occurred, we have cut classes, library hours and support staff for our students.

Our part-time faculty members are among the lowest paid in the state.

To top it off, administrators then used district money to enjoy retreats at a casino and a winery, and spent thousands renovating offices.

Gary Eno will be different.

Gary will represent North Merced on the Merced College Board with an independent critical eye.
