Chan Choy: Jack Mobley a friend to refugees

October 18, 2012

I am writing on behalf of my good friend Jack Mobley, who is running for state Assembly.

I worked for Mobley in his business some 20 years ago. I know him to be a man of integrity who cares about his employees.

Mobley was one of the first employers in Merced who saw the value in hiring people from the Southeast Asian refugee community. At a time when few private industries were hiring Hmong and Mien workers, Mobley started a business with the specific purpose of providing opportunities to us.

Because Mobley provided us with an entry point in to the workplace, many of us over the years have been able to join the work force and become productive, taxpaying citizens.

Mobley has enabled so many from the valley's refugee community to take the first step toward achieving the American Dream.
