BOB HOBBS: Camper for Merced College Board, Area 3

Camper is a past president of the United Way and a past board member of the American Diabetes Association. In addition, he was involved with the Those Who Care Foundation for 10 years. Finally, he has coached various youth sports teams for about 10 years.

Why do these activities lead to a strong board member for the community college? Education is important to this District 3 candidate. Camper is a father of two, both of whom attend Merced schools.

He has a genuine interest in helping Merced College thrive in these difficult economic times. He has strong leadership skills and a desire to effect this community for the better.

As a retired faculty member of Merced College, I know the challenges facing a community college. Accreditation demands are more stringent and less money is available. Stress is high and morale low among administration, faculty, and staff.

Camper brings a renewed enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to the Board of Trustees.
