Peggy Perkins: Why is Mobley going negative?

I've been watching with sad interest the Mobley campaign's attack on Adam Gray. I get mail from the millionaire-funded, oddly named Workers for Common Sense and see anti-Gray signs that make me wonder why Jack Mobley doesn't just concentrate on what he can or will do if elected instead of making Adam Gray look bad. It seems this smear is the best he can muster -- the ol' distraction strategy of covering up his lack of qualification for the office by pointing at the other guy.

I was unable to find evidence of some of the mostly membership-based endorsements Mobley lists, but I do understand that he has the backing of extremists who believe bad-mouthing and fear-mongering are essential campaign tools.

I'll be voting for Adam Gray, who grew up here in Merced and has a much more impressive and realistic list of endorsements including law enforcement, firefighters, nurses and teachers organizations, among many more. Check out who is behind the candidates and you'll see why Adam Gray is the right choice, despite Mobley's efforts to steer you wrong.
